statement

Caroline Pradal (born 1976 in France) realizes installations, drawings and ceramic sculptures.

By focusing on techniques and materials, she absorbs the art and craft into daily artistic practice (Ikebana, marbling technic...).This interest into a craft tradition is important as an act of creation itself.

Her installations through collection of objects for exemple radiate calm, sens of organisation and a disconcerting beauty emerges from the assembly itself (natural sponge or fossils).

By applying a poetic and often metaphorical language, she seduces the viewer into a world of equilibrium between the past and the present in order to find poetic meaning to the material.

By emphasising aesthetics, she wants to amplify the curiosity of the spectator by creating compositions or installations that generate tranquil poetic images from the meaning of the objet or the material.

Time and memory always play a key role.

By questioning the connection between the realm of memory/knowledge and the realm of experience, she considers making art a craft which is executed using technical rules and aesthetic which should always refer to social reality and the memory.

Her works are notable for their perfect finish and tactile nature. Caroline Pradal currently lives and works between Paris and Athens.
